Britain is a country where an old Sergeant Pepper record sleeve designer called Peter Blake will rub shoulders with other notable old men for his birthday

Peter Blake, who designed the most famous vinyl record sleeve cover in history,'Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' in 1967, will celebrate his 80th birthday in June 2012. To mark the occasion he has reworked the sleeve and peopled it with important British cultural figures, living and deceased for Wayne Hemingway's 'Vintage Festival' at Boughton House, Northamptonshire, in July.

Collectively, with Peter, they have been around for a magnificent 1333 years.

Peter, often called the 'Godfather'of the British pop art scene, has said:
"I've chosen people I admire, great people and some who are dear friends. I had a very long list of people who I wanted to go in but couldn't fit everyone in – I think that shows how strong British culture and its legacy of the last six decades is."

Wayne Hemingway, co-founder of the Red or Dead fashion brand and organiser of 'The Vintage Festival' said:
"The new artwork is a tribute to Britain's standing as the world's leading creative nation"and
it was "an incredible honour" for Peter to "reimagine such an iconic work of art. We are proud to be dedicating the Sunday at Vintage this year to celebrate his 80th birthday and creative and cultural legacy."
